WINE OF THE WEEK:
With us, you flat out never know
what the WOW is gonna be.
It might be 7 bucks; it might be 40 bucks.
It might be obscure; it might be famous.
It might be imported; it might be domestic.
What it ALWAYS is… is a special combo
of quality, value, and pizzazz that we think
you should know about!
Enter your WOW for this second week of July,
the 2010 Mount Eden Chardonnay from Edna
Valley. Described by the sales rep as
“buttered popcorn in a glass,” this is downright
delicious:
The nose reveals buttered toast, along with
ripe tropical fruit. The palate follows up on
that, with additional nutty notes, plus squirts
of lemon and mandarin adding to the flavor
profile. It finishes with a nice snap of
lip-smacking acidity, never once turning
flabby or boring. Terrific Chard!
The winery has requested that we keep our
online price close to $20, to protect their
brand image. Our in-store price is $15.97,
which is a steal for a Chardonnay this good!
This wine should be in stock by Tuesday, 7/9,
and of course will be available to taste.
WINESDAY FLIGHT OF FANCY
This Winesday July 10, we are enrolling
you in the University of Oak!
That’s right, for ten bucks – the lowest
tuition you will find anywhere! – you get
to “study” a half glass each of these three
wines, each of which proves how vital
the judicious use of oak can be in
producing tasty wines:
Mount Eden Chardonnay 2010, $15.97
-described above
Line 39 Pinot Noir 2012, $7.97
-smoky, savory notes over ripe raspberry
and cherry flavors
Grey Wolf Big Bad Wolf Zinfandel 2011, $22.97
-ripe boysenberry and raspberry, with vanilla
and spice from the French and American oak
School is in session from 5-9 Wednesday.
Professor Tobin looks forward to your attendance!
