Good Day & Good Holidays!
We shall begin with a reminder that your
4th Quarter Stock-up Days are this very
weekend, Saturday November 30 and
Sunday December 1. That’s when you get
10% off everything in the store, so mark
those days down!
Your Wine Pick-up Party this month will
be on the FIRST TUESDAY, December 3rd,
anytime from 5-9 pm. We’ll have both
the Silver and Gold level wines available
to taste, and doing so costs you nothing.
Congratulations to our December winner of the
monthly free bottle, Mitch Truelock. Mitch, you may
choose any past or present Silver Level bottle.
Now for the wines, beginning with Silver Level:
The 2012 Sarapo Pinot Noir hails from the
North Coast appellation of California:
“Showcasing complimentary Russian River Valley
and Carneros fruit sources, this is a supple, very
pretty Pinot Noir. Punchy aromas of dark cherry,
raspberry and baking spices lead to an exuberant
medium-bodied wine with a long, clean, spicy finish.
The well integrated French oak (40% new) adds a
seamless complexity to the fruit.”
The next Silver is the 2011 Casarena Cabernet
Reserva from Mendoza, Argentina. 92 points
Stephen Tanzer:
“Restrained but pure aromas of blackcurrant,
bitter chocolate, mocha and peppery herbs.
Dense, sappy and deep, with musky dark berry
flavors accented by pepper and herbs. A classic,
satisfying and complete Cabernet, with a lush,
round texture, excellent breadth and length, and very
suave, fine-grained tannins. This could do some
damage in a blind flight of top Napa Cabs.
A steal at the price.”
Moving to the Gold Level, we begin with the
2012 Crossbarn Pinot Noir by Paul Hobbs,
from the Sonoma Coast:
“The welcoming nose features aromas of black
cherry pie, wild raspberries and weathered oak.
Middleweight flavors of cherry cola, raspberry
and spice with supportive oak in the background.
A very pleasing wine with balanced tannins, a
velvety palate and juicy acidity. Impressive wine
in this excellent vintage.”
Finally, we offer the 2011 Waters Syrah from
Washington:
“The aromatics and flavors are marked by numerous
layers of black cherry, cola, cracked pepper, Asian
spices, olives, mushrooms, grilled meats, and charcuterie.
The structure is lush without being over-ripe, and offers
a streamlined burst of acidity.”
Again, all four of these wines will be available
for you to taste on Tuesday, December 3rd.
Please come give them a try!
Have a great month, and Merry Christmas!!
