This Friday, January 24, our Tasting Event
theme is “A Wine By Any Other Name.”
We’re playing, of course, with Shakespeare’s
famous quote: “A rose by any other name
would smell as sweet,” from Romeo and Juliet.
To paraphrase Juliet, a wine’s quality
matters a heckuva lot more than it’s name.
To prove it, we’re offering a bunch of
them that are known by various different
monikers.
Check these out:
Yalumba Vermentino (aka Rolle) 2011, $9.97
-88 points Wine Spectator
Secateurs Chenin Blanc (Steen) 2012, $14.97
-92 points Robert Parker
Tarima Hill Monastrell (Mataro) 2011, $13.97
-91 points Stephen Tanzer
Las Rocas Old Vines Garnacha (Grenache) 2009, $16.97
-90 points Wine Advocate
Vina Ardanza Rioja Reserva Tempranillo (Cencibel) 2004, $35.97
-94 points Wine Spectator, #22 on their Top 100
All Saints Durif (Petite Sirah) 2010, $19.97
-95 points James Halliday
Mollydooker The Boxer Shiraz (Syrah) 2012, $22.97
That’s an incredible batch of wine, no matter
what you call them!
They will be available to taste any time
from 4-10. Cost is $15, which includes
appetizers.
Join us, that we not pine for you, sighing,
“O Wine lover, wine lover. Wherefore art thou,
wine lover?”
