WINE OF THE WEEK:
We’ve been finding some delicious
Pinotage lately; one was a Wine Club
selection this month, and another is
this week’s WOW!
Our Wine of the Week is the 2011
Pinotage from Robertson Cellars
in South Africa.
Aromas of spiced meat, chocolate and
brambly berries follow through on the
medium-bodied palate. It’s juicy, smooth,
and easy-drinking. One sip will definitely
lead to another! And another, and another…
The Robertson is just $9.97, and you
can taste it this week.
So why don’t you?
WINESDAY FLIGHT:
Wednesday, Winesday.
Winesday, Wednesday.
We consider the terms to be
synonymous.
Come to think of it, around here
Winesday could apply to any day!
But we’ll still use it as a euphemism
for that famous mid-week day that
is also associated with the word hump.
We just think it’s a great opportunity
to get out and enjoy a truly amazing
wine flight for just ten bucks.
This Winesday, 7/16, is quite impressive,
if I say so myself. Here’s why:
BellaVista Franciacorta Rose 2008, $47.97
-“Perfumes of wild strawberries, citrus fruit,
golden delicious apples and rose petals.
Fresh and dry on the palate, with a fine
mousse of persistent bubbles and notes of
blackcurrants and sweet almonds. This wine
is silky and elegant and finishes long.”
Robertson Pinotage 2011, $9.97
-described above
PlumpJack Syrah 2012, $49.97
-“exhibits a smoky, gamey nose layered with
white and black pepper, with complementary
notes of blueberry and raspberry aromatics.
Well structured, the palate is full of bright
raspberries, black pepper and smoke. This
wine has beautiful finesse, great concentration
and vibrant acidity.”
That’s a half glass each of $110 worth of wine.
For just ten bucks.
Really.
