Hello, Jim,
Greetings and salutations,
Your Wine Club wines are here and
ready for you. If you’d like to taste all
four, the Pick-up Party is TUESDAY, 10/7,
any time from 5-9. Come taste the club
wines for free, and mingle with fellow members.
Our monthly WINNER is Sue Brenner.
Sue, feel free to select any past or
present Silver level wine.
Now for the wines, starting with the Silvers.
Introducing the 2010 Firestone Merlot from
Santa Ynez Valley, which received 90 points
from Wine Enthusiast.
It delivers textbook aromas of black and red
cherry with bright raspberry notes. On the
palate, subtle toasted oak adds a soft vanilla
and spice element to round out the fruit. Supple
tannins give way to a long finish.
The second silver is the Brassfield Eruption 2012
from High Valley, 90 points Wine & Spirits:
“This unconventional blend of syrah, malbec,
mourvedre and petite sirah carries a plump and
floral ripeness that’s satisfying. It’s girded by firm,
glinting black tannins and is a great buy.”
Now for the Gold Level. The 2011 Toby Lane
Merlot hails from Alexander Valley.
Aromas include cherry, red currant, and mocha.
That same fruit appears deliciously on the
palate, along with mocha, chocolate, and
subtle herbal touches. Moderate tannins
offer dusty grip, and it finishes very nicely,
with balance and length.
Finally, we offer the 2010 Zolo Malbec
from Mendoza, Argentina, 91 points
Wine Spectator:
“Offers a meaty aroma, with dark, dense and
powerful flavors of mincemeat, plum tart, dried
blackberry and slate. Dark chocolate hints
emerge midpalate. Finishes with smoke-filled
notes of Asian spice. Exotic and distinctive.”
Thank you for the honor and privilege of choosing
wines for you. We would love to have you taste
them at the Pick-up Party, which again is
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7.
See you soon; have an amazing month!
