Cheers, and Happy Thanksgiving!
First things first. Your 4th quarter
STOCK UP DAYS fall on the last weekend
of the month, 11/29 and 11/30. This is
your opportunity to get 10% off everything
in the shop, so mark those days down!
Your Wine Club wines are here and
ready for you. If you’d like to taste all
four, the Pick-up Party is TUESDAY, 11/4,
any time from 5-9. Come taste the club
wines for free, and mingle with fellow members.
Our monthly WINNER is Leo Conboy.
Leo, feel free to select any past or
present Silver level wine.
Now for the wines, starting with the Silvers.
Take a look at the 2012 Steltzner Claret
from Napa Valley:
“Beautiful full fruit balanced with dark toasted
oak notes. Classic Bordeaux blend with just
enough Merlot and Cabernet Franc to give the
underlying Cabernet Sauvignon finesse and
grace. Dark berry fruits with hints of cedar box
on the finish.”
The second silver is the 2012 Shannon Ridge
Petite Sirah from Lake County:
The nose absolutely shows off with ripe
dark plum and blueberry fruit, plus vanilla.
Medium in body, its dry, grippy tannins
frame the black and blue fruit that also
shows vanilla accents. The finish is long
and drying, showing good structure.
Next up is the Gold Level. The 2012 Crognolo
Toscana received 95 points from James Suckling:
“Richly layered, colored, perfumed and sculpted
with dazzling red fruits, a great mouthfeel, silky
tannins and exceptional balance. A tremendous
follow-up to the superb 2011.” Beautiful now but
even better in a few years!
Finally, we offer the 2011 Smith Wooton
Petit Verdot from Napa Valley. Here is my
verbatim note from when we first tasted it:
This starts out big and lush, with dark, juicy
fruit. Then quickly the tannins grab hold down
to the tonsils, assertive as hell, eventually
relaxing their grip well into the finish to reveal
subtle savory, smoke, and oak nuances
accenting the fruit. A big, impressive PV.
Should be awesome with a steak.
Thank you for the honor and privilege of choosing
wines for you. We would love to have you taste
them at the Pick-up Party, which again is
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4.
See you soon; have an amazing month and
a fantastic Thanksgiving celebration!!
