Welcome to March!!
Before we get to your club wines,
here are two important notes:
Your Pick-up Party is Wednesday, 3/4.
Come on in and taste all Club wines,
any time from 5-9.
Our monthly WINNER is Jayna Chapman.
Jayna, come on in and pick any past or
present Silver level wine.
Now for the wines, starting with the Silvers.
We have the 2013 “Highway 12” red blend
from Sonoma County. This deliciously drinkable
wine is composed of Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet,
Petit Verdot, and Malbec.
It is medium to full bodied featuring notes of black
cherry, fig, cassis and cedar. A round mid palate and
soft tannins lead to a gentle finish suitable for many
foods and occasions. But let’s face it; this will rock
with barbecue and burgers!
Silver #2 is the 2011 Zerran Tinto, a red from the
Montsant region of Spain. This one is Garnacha,
Mazuelo, and Syrah, and received 92 points
from Wine Advocate:
“Ratchets up the level of concentration and ripe fruit.
It reveals abundant kirsch, lavender, black raspberry
and dusty, loamy, earthy scents intermixed with
notions of spring flowers and blackberries. Its
completeness and overall equilibrium are impressive.”
Moving to the Gold Level wines, we begin with the
2011 Chateauneuf-du-Pape from Philippine de
Saint-Cyrille, 91 points Wine Spectator:
“Gorgeous warm cocoa, ganache and espresso notes
lead the way, followed by macerated fig, blackberry
paste and warm plum sauce flavors. Dense and loamy
through the finish. Shows impressive density for the vintage.”
Finally, we offer the 2012 Adaption Petite Sirah from
Napa Valley. This is a small production wine made
by the Plumpjack team.
This beauty absolutely “is loaded with depth, superior
concentration and a multitude of layers. It possesses
aromatics of blackberry jam, plums, violets, and hints
of brown sugar and nutmeg followed by raspberries,
cloves and smoky oak on the palate.”
Please join us at the Pick-up Party, which again is
Wednesday, 3/4/15.
Hope you have a fantastic month! 🙂
