April and Spring are here, and in the spirit of
renewal we have four great new wines for you!
Let’s start with your Pick-up Party, which is your
opportunity to taste all 4 Club wines for free.
It’s Wednesday, April 6, from 4-9.
The monthly BOTTLE WINNER is Nelson Elmore.
Congratulations, Nelson!
Okay, now for the wines. Silver #1 is the 2013 True Myth
Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles.
It is loaded with elegant aromas of blackberry, blueberry,
pepper and cassis which lead to flavors of dark red fruits
with hints of cedar spice, cocoa powder and caramelized
oak. While very accessible now, this wine will continue
to evolve nicely for years to come.
Silver #2 may shock you, so hold onto your hats!
It’s the 2013 Grassi Ribolla Gialla from Napa Valley.
Yes, it’s a white wine, but don’t freak out. It is rare
and amazing, and you definitely should try it.
Let’s get one thing straight. This white wine is D-LISH-US!
Ribolla Gialla has been growing in Italy since the 12th century.
It’s a bit of a shock to see it grown in Cab-centric Napa, but
we’re glad it is. The wine is incredibly crisp, dry and gives off
mouthwatering, waterfall-size citrus flavors. It is awesome in
any direction; as an aperitif, sipping on a Saturday afternoon,
or with a large variety of dishes.
Gold level next. #1 is the 2013 Stonestreet Cabernet from
Alexander Valley.
This conveys vivid aromas and flavors of black cherry, plum
and blood orange with bay leaf, fresh tobacco and cocoa nib
adding further dimension. The palate offers a generous,
beautifully extracted texture.
Gold #2 is the 2013 Havens Merlot from Napa Valley.
This is a medium-bodied, fleshy and floral wine, happy
in violet aromas and a light spiciness of nutmeg behind
the soft layers of black plum and cherry. With a yeasty
backbone reminiscent of baked bread, it is fulsome
and balanced.
Come see us on Wednesday, 4/6/16, to taste all four of
these delicious wines.
Cheers, and thanks for your support. See you soon!
