Now entering the holiday season, and we are
here to help. Starting with your Club wines.
But first, a few facts.
Your Pick-up Party, which is your opportunity to
taste all 4 Club wines for free, falls on Tuesday,
November 8th, from 5-9. This of course is also
Election Day, when we ALL will probably need
a drink!
Your 4th Quarter Stock Up Days (10% off everything
in the shop) fall on the second weekend in November,
the 12th and 13th. This is a great opportunity to stock
up on wine for the holidays.
The monthly BOTTLE WINNER is Karen Cunningham.
Congratulations, Karen.
Now here are the Silver wines. First is the 2013 Sean
Minor “Nicole Marie” Red from Napa Valley. This is
51% Merlot, 29% Zinfandel, 15% Petit Verdot, and
5% Petite Sirah.
It displays aromas of ripe dark fruit, brown sugar,
molasses and vanilla. On the palate, it is big, rich
and spicy, offering flavors of dark cherry, plum, cassis
and black pepper that integrate with hints of oak spices,
coating the palate. The round soft tannins and sweet
oak balance lead to a long and lingering finish.
Silver #2 is the 2013 Sauce Red from Columbia
Valley. This one is 72% Merlot, 24% Cabernet,
3% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot.
As soon as we tasted this one we realized it’s
not only a great Club wine, but a terrific Holiday
wine in general. Aromas and flavors are ripe
and tasty, including black cherry, dark plum,
rhubarb, mint, oak, and vanilla. It’s juicy and fun,
but with enough acid and tannins for balance.
For the Gold Level, we’re doing something we
haven’t done in quite a while. Instead of offering
two wines, you’re getting one really, really good one.
It’s the 2010 Vine Cliff Cabernet Sauvignon from
Napa Valley. Stellar producer, stellar grape,
stellar region.
Nuanced aromas of both red and dark fruits, with
blueberries and red cherries playing a leading role.
Hints of spice, bay leaf and cocoa add layers of
complexity and character. Entering with bright sweet
fruit, the palate is rich, full bodied and powerful.
Shades of mocha and molasses from the French
oak provide a complexity that lingers through the finish.
This wine is made for steak, lamb, duck, or just
about anything off the grill.
The wines are here and ready for you. Mark your
calendar to come taste them on the 8th. Cheers!
