What better way to celebrate American
Independence than by drinking wines
made in Spain and Portugal?
Yeah, we don’t get the connection
either. In fact, when I put it that
way the idea seems rather strange.
Then again, I’ve never been the
sharpest corkscrew in the bar.
Here’s the thing: it’s been quite
a while since we’ve showcased wines
from the Iberian Peninsula. Plus,
we’ve recently acquired a pile of
tasty new ones!
So Friday, July 6th, we’re fixin’ to
pour these 7 – or 9 – wines down your gullets.
There will be appetizers, of course,
and the tasting will be available any time
between 4 and 10, for just 10 bucks (for these 7):
Botani Moscatel 2009, $11.97
-91 points Wine Advocate
La Cana Albarino 2011, $15.97
-89 points Tobin Bros.
Vina Cerrada Tempranillo 2010, $7.97
-87 points Tobin Bros.
La Planta Ribera del Duero, $15.97
-90 points Robert Parker
Castillo Perelada 5 Fincas 2005, $16.97
-89 points Jim Tobin
Van Zellers Douro Red 2007, $17.97
-90 points Wine Spectator
Condado de Haza Ribera del Duero 2006, $19.97
-92 points Stephen Tanzer
PLUS… because we are complete lunatics,
we will give you the opportunity to taste
these 2 SUPERSTARS for an additional
$3 per taste, or $5 per half glass:
Alto Moncayo 2009, $46.97
-so far unrated; previous vintages scored mid-90’s
Quinta Vale D. Maria Douro, $49.97
-96 points Wine Advocate
These are delicious vinos and will make
a great way to kick off our anniversary
month. Come on over and join us!
(Did you notice the word “anniversary?”
That was me employing a literary device
known as foreshadowing. Which means
you’ll hear more about this “anniversary”
business in the very near future)
