WINE OF THE WEEK:
We’ll be cool – as we always are – and let you try
the WOW this week (it’s a part of our Wednesday
Flight – see below), but this one comes with a
definite caveat, as mentioned in Wine Spectator’s
91 point note:
“Tightly wound, with a muscular mix of lead pencil
and graphite accenting the core of dense berry, earth,
gravel and cedary oak notes. Slowly reveals black
licorice, anise and savory herb flavors, but needs
cellaring time. Best from 2019 through 2030.”
Right now it’s showing great potential, and it’s
certainly very good. But we agree completely
that its best days lie ahead of it. So cellar it if
you can keep your hands off it!
It’s the 2013 Mondavi Oakville Cabernet, and
the fruit this year is 100% from the world famous
To Kalon Vineyard.
To Kalon Cabs often sell in the 100’s of dollars
per bottle. This particular one sells for about
$52 on wine.com, and is regularly 39.97 here
in our shop.
But this week only (thru Saturday 3/11), it’s just
35.97/bottle. Great deal, and very limited!!
(that means limited to stock on hand, fyi)
