August is here, and we hope you’re in good cheer.
Here’s your Wine Club info!
Your Pick-up Party, which is your opportunity to
taste all 4 Club wines for free, falls on Wednesday,
August 2nd, from 5-9. Join us!
The monthly BOTTLE WINNER is Jack Midland.
Congratulations, Jack. It’s about time, right?
As for your Q3 stock up days, they fall on the second
weekend in September, the 9th and 10th.
These are the Silver wines. The 2014 Volver Tempranillo
from Spain, 90 points Wine Spectator:
“This dense red delivers currant, licorice, espresso and
mineral flavors, supported by well-integrated tannins
and fresh acidity. Offers an appealing savory edge.”
Silver #2 is the 2014 Beckmen Cuvee le Bec, a blend of
50% Syrah, 35% Grenache, 8% Mourvedre, 7% Counoise
from Santa Ynez. 90 points Vinous:
“An absolutely delicious wine as well as a tremendous value.
Supple, vibrant and impeccably well-balanced, the 2014
offers considerable near and medium-term appeal, with
plenty of vibrant fruit pushed forward.”
Now for the Gold Level. The 2014 Crossbarn Pinot Noir,
made by the legendary Paul Hobbs, hails from the
Sonoma Coast. 92 points Wine Advocate:
“This is another knockout winner. It exhibits smoky
barbecue notes, baking spice, loads of blackcurrant
and black cherry fruit, and plenty of spice, but the purity
of fruit and lusciousness are head-turners.”
Last up is the 2013 Puramun Malbec from Uco Valley,
Argentina. 93 points Wine Advocate.
Ripe blackberry aromas burst out of the glass, plus
notes of oak, vanilla, and milk chocolate. All that
follows through on the palate, but it’s not too heavy
or jammy. Just ripe, tasty, and well-made, with
solid structure.
Lots of deliciousness, to be sure! Come taste ’em
this Wednesday, and have a great month!
