WINE OF THE WEEK:
So here’s our NEXT winner. And boy, did it get some press! 90 points
Wine Spectator. 90 points Wine Advocate. 93 points Wine Enthusiast.
We see it online for $22. But we got a crazy deal. So YOU get a crazy deal.
It’s just 8.97/bottle for this wine, and here it is:
The 2013 Quinta do Passadouro is a red blend from Portugal. It’s a mix of
40% Touriga Nacional, 30% Tinta Roriz and 30% Touriga Franca, aged for
18 months in an 80/20 mixture of used and new French barriques.
From the Enthusiast: “This grand wine is rich and firmly structured. With dark
tannins and powerful black plum fruit flavors, it is concentrated and with
considerable aging potential.”
The Advocate: “Graceful, tasty and harmonious.”
The Spectator: “Velvety in texture and well-spiced, with ripe dark fruit flavors
that are matched to engaging forest floor and cedary notes.”
Terrific wine, terrific price. Keep reading for a great way to taste it!
WINESDAY FLIGHT:
Many prices have an unfortunate tendency to rise. But we have held fast
for years in our determination to give you a fantastic midweek flight for just $10.
This Wednesday, the 23rd, we’re doing it again. Check it:
By Ott Dry Rose 2016, 17.97. Crisp, lovely, altogether delightful.
Quinta do Passadouro Tinto 2013, 8.97. Described above.
Allegiance Cabernet 2015, 39.97. Stellar negociant Cab, with fruit from a prominent
Oakville producer we can’t name here (we can tell you when we see you).
Hope to see you this Wednesday. Any time from 5-9, btw.
