PINOT NOIR TASTING EVENT:
This weekend we are SO excited to provide a wine tasting featuring one of our
favorite varietals – Pinot Noir!
This extravaganza is available both Friday and Saturday. Just $15 to taste these:
Nielson Pinot Noir 2014, Santa Barbara, 14.97/bottle.
Jules Taylor Pinot Noir 2016, Marlborough, 19.97. 88 points Tobin Bros.
Stoller Pinot Noir 2015, Dundee Hills, 19.97. 91 points Wine Enthusiast.
Domaine Anderson Pinot Noir 2013, Anderson Valley, 31.97. 89 points Jim Tobin.
Coho Pinot Noir 2014, Carneros, 26.97. 91 points Jim Tobin
Bergstrom Gregory Ranch Pinot Noir 2014, Yamhill-Carlton, 59.97. 94 points Wine Spectator.
Six Pinots from 6 different appellations = awesome. PLUS… we will sneak in another Pinot,
blind, just for fun. Which means you get to taste 7 Pinots for just 15 bucks. What a deal!
Pinot Noir without a doubt is our most requested – and recommended – red wine to serve
with Thanksgiving. This is a great way to try a bunch of them.
We sure hope to see you this weekend!
WINE OF THE WEEK!
Read this 93 point note from the Wine Advocate:
“Their 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is sensational…. This is just a stunner
that is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet
Franc and the rest Malbec and Merlot. Dense purple in color, it has a
beautiful nose of spring flowers, blackcurrants, subtle background oak
and licorice and a long, opulent mouthfeel. This is a beauty that can be
drunk now or cellared for another 15 more years. It is a heck of a wine
and irresistible.”
The wine is the 2014 Cliff Lede Cabernet from Napa Valley’s Stags Leap
District. Our normal price on this amazing wine is 74.97, which is what
you would find on a big online wine site. But for a few days only, just
through Saturday the 11th, we have it for just 54.97. Only while it lasts.
If you’re looking for a great deal on a fantastic holiday wine, you’ve found it!
PRICE CHECK REPORT:
We battle a stigma, and have been doing so for 7 years. “I’d like to support local small businesses,” people think, “but they just can’t compete with the big chains when it comes to price.”
That may be true in some cases, but it is definitely not the case with us. Our goal since taking over this business 7 years ago has never changed: to provide a wine shop that offers the best combination of price, selection, and service in all of North County.
To that end, we regularly conduct competitive price checks. On the morning of November 7th I stopped by the Bressi Ranch Trader Joe’s to see how we’re doing. Here’s what I found with the wines that we have in common with them:
Wente Riva Ranch Chardonnay. Our price 14.97, theirs 15.99.
Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc-Viognier. Our price 10.97, theirs 10.99
Daou Cabernet. Our price 19.97, theirs 21.99.
Cuttings Cabernet. Our price 33.97, theirs 41.99.
Meiomi Pinot Noir. Our price 15.97, theirs 17.99.
Gascon Malbec. Our price 10.97, theirs 10.99.
Mollydooker The Boxer Shiraz. Our price 22.97, theirs 22.99.
See what I mean? Very competitive, to say the least! True, we don’t have produce and meat departments, but we do have a sommelier, as well as a wine bar on site. And that ain’t bad!
Please understand that we’re not trying to upend everyone’s shopping patterns. All we ask is that you keep us in mind for your wine needs this holiday season, and beyond. We’re confident you’ll be pleased with our selection, price, and service. Oh, and if you just can’t make it over here… we deliver to most parts of North County! (we just need a half a day to a day’s notice)
