WINE OF THE WEEK:

Online we see this wine priced in the $50’s. Normally here it would be 49.97.
But – let’s say it together now – “When we get a deal, YOU get a deal!”

And what a deal. The 2011 Ser Gioveto Tuscan Red is from highly regarded
producer Rocca delle Macie. The wine is 80% Sangiovese with the balance
Cabernet and Merlot. Here’s the lowdown:

This opens with aromas of dusty oak, exotic spice and a whiff of black currant. The palate displays toasted oak, roasted coffee beans, menthol, ground black pepper and dried black cherries alongside grippy tannins that leave a drying finish.

Nice complexity here, for sure, plus the acidity to make it a fine companion to a
great many dishes. Everything from pasta in red sauce, ham, mushroom risotto,
roast chicken, and hearty stews.
