WINE OF THE WEEK:
How many 94-point wines do you see for 20 bucks or less? Not a lot, my friend.
Not a lot.
Until you visit NCWC this week. You see, we discovered a hidden gem from
Paso Robles that we think is very worth your while.
It’s the 2011 Villa Creek Aglianico from the Luna Matta Vineyard, and it’s a special
wine. Here’s the 94 point note from Antonio Galloni:
It “explodes from the glass with blueberry jam, grilled herbs, cassis, menthol, violets and lavender. An exotic, thrilling wine, the 2011 boasts superb depth and richness to match its opulent, full-bodied personality. Paso Robles meets Campania in a dazzling wine that will provide plenty of thrills over the next decade or more.“
You may not have heard of Aglianico. It’s a major red varietal in the southern
Italian region of Campania, but very little is planted here in California. In fact, the
winery only produces 200 cases of this wine.
But we have several of them! And to give this gem even more luster, we have
a special price for you, only through this weekend. It’s phenomenal at our regular
price of 22.97. But this week only it’s yours for just 19.97/bottle. Cheers!
WEDNESDAY WINE FLIGHT:
Here’s another stellar midweek lineup. $10 this Wednesday the 22nd for a
half glass each of these:
Mohua Sauvignon Blanc 2017. Tangy, expressive, and lip-smacking.
Runquist “R” Grenache 2017. Characteristically smooth and richly-flavored.
Villa Creek Aglianico 2011. Our WOW, described above.
Available any time from 4-9 pm. Come take a hump day breather at the
best wine bar around!
