WINE OF THE WEEK:We were fortunate recently to discover a delicious Pinot Noir from that slice of Pinot heaven known as the Santa Lucia Highlands. It’s the 2016 vintage from Tondre. Classic SLH aromas of earth and spice shine through, getting things off to a wonderful start. The palate shows plush tannins and racy spice notes that mingle gloriously with the pure cherry fruit all the way through the lasting finish. Online we see a wide range in prices for this bottle, from $23 all the way up to $43. But as usual, we beat everyone. The Tondre SLH Pinot is just 19.97 here at NCWC, and – again – it is delicious. QUICK POLL:FIRST: We’re still here for you! Same as the last two weeks, hours from 11-6, Tuesday through Saturday. And we’re still encouraging curbside pickup and delivery options, with delivery fees waived for most of North County. Just call us at 760-653-9032, and we’ll get you taken care of. Stay safe and healthy, and let us know how we can help! SECOND: We’d like some feedback, please, on something we’re considering. We miss all of our wine bar friends, of course, and we miss offering great flights and tastings and such. We’re thinking about offering “Virtual Wine Tastings” via Zoom. One night a week to start, and probably just one wine to taste, or maybe two, because most folks wouldn’t want to have to open a bunch of wines at once. We would post the wine in advance, so anyone who wants to participate can come get a bottle. Then at the appointed time Jim would conduct the tasting, while of course allowing comments and questions. What do you think? Please take a second to let us know if you have any interest. Thank you so much!
