WINE OF THE WEEK:
There’s an amusing old saying, “A pessimist is never disappointed.”
Those words are printed on the back of every bottle of Daou Pessimist. Trying the current 2018 vintage led us to this corollary: Pessimist red blend is never disappointing!
This vintage nailed down an impressive 92 point score from Jeb Dunnuck, who had this to say:
“This is always a good value for those who love opulent fruit, and the 2018 offers loads of sweet blue fruits, white chocolate, violets, and toasted spice aromas and flavors. Based on 62% Petite Sirah, 19% Zinfandel, and 17% Syrah, it’s full-bodied, decadent, and rich while staying light on its feet. I’d be happy to drink it.”
You’ll be happy to drink it, too. Especially considering it’s just 16.97/bottle. Come and get it!
MIDWEEK WINE FLIGHT:
We thought it might make sense this midweek to include our WOW in a fun flight of red blends, so that’s exactly what we’ve done. Ten bucks for a half glass each of…
Goldschmidt Embankment Red 2017. Velvety blend of Cab and Merlot.
Brassfield Eruption 2017. Full-flavored and concentrated.
Daou Pessimist 2018. Opulent and rich; described above.
These make for a terrific flight of yummy reds, as well as being great barbecue wines and summer sippers.
Available Tuesday-Thursday, so come on in!
