Wowza, it’s September already! But no worries, we’ve got your club wines, and we’ll talk about them in a bit. First, the customary info.
The monthly free bottle winner is Heather Hanover. Congrats!
Your STOCK-UP DAYS for September are Saturday and Sunday, the 25th and 26th. Take advantage of your discount!
You may wish to taste your Club Wines, and of course you can do that! All four will be available Wednesday and Thursday, 9/1-2. This tasting is FREE for you and your spouse, or a friend.
Let’s get into the Club wines now, Silver first. The 2016 Champ de Reves Pinot Noir is from Anderson Valley.
This offers bright flavors of cherry, strawberry and cranberry, accented by notes of cola, earth and subtle oak. Pure Pinot Noir made in the classic style!
The 2017 Opaque Darkness is a Paso Robles blend of Zin, Syrah, Cab, Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot and Grenache. 90 points Wine Enthusiast.
This is rich but zesty in style, with fresh boysenberry and lavender aromas. On the palate those notes continue, along with blackberry, spice and vanilla.
On to Gold Level. First up is the 2019 Ojai Vineyard Pinot Noir, from the famous Kessler-Haak Vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills.
This is smooth and almost luscious on the palate, though enlivened with bright acidity. Cherry, blackberry and spice flavors are augmented by notes of oak and black tea. This will age well but is already drinking beautifully.
Last but not least is the 2017 Louis Martini Cabernet from Alexander Valley, 92 points James Suckling.
This rocks flavors of blackberry pie a la mode, cassis, black cherry and baking spice. It also carries a suggestion of dusty, lightly herbaceous earth that is so typical of quality Cabernet from this appellation.
THANK YOU for being a wonderful part of the NCWC community. Hope to see you soon!
