Wow, the holiday season is upon us already! Of course, we are eager and ready to help you with all your wine needs, starting with your Club Wines.
But first, a few details:
The monthly free bottle winner is Amy Trimble. Congrats!
Your STOCK-UP DAYS for November are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the 26th-28th. That of course is Thanksgiving weekend. Take advantage of your discount!
As is now customary, we’re giving you not 1 but 3 opportunities to taste the wines. All four will be available Tues-Thurs, November 2-4. This tasting is FREE for you and your spouse, or a friend.
Let’s get into the Club wines now, Silver first. The 2017 Altanza Rioja Crianza is a terrific Tempranillo from Spain.
Ripe strawberry, cherry and licorice aromas blend harmoniously with the smoky, “grilled bread”, balsamic notes characteristic of good French oak. On the palate all that follows, with a hint of earthiness in the mix. It’s supple, with food-friendly acidity and a long, balanced finish.
The 2018 Amancaya is an Argentinian blend of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet.
The nose is complex with aromas of cocoa, red fruits and figs layered with cinnamon and a touch of smokiness. The palate unveils seductive aromas of black fruit with very well-integrated oak. This wine has great balance and freshness.
On to Gold Level, starting with the 2019 Henry’s Drive Shiraz-Cabernet from McLaren Vale, Australia.
There’s terrific tension between the plump, ripe red and black fruit flavors and concentrated accents of cassis, with muscular tannins and savory notes of chai tea, dried herb, tobacco and licorice, showing plenty of harmony on the finish.
Finally, the 2018 Eponymous Cabernet is a Napa Valley gem.
It’s complex, intense and structured, showing characteristic notes of black cherry, blackcurrant, cedar and cigar box. The wine may be enjoyed near-term after decanting, or can age for 10-15 years .
THANK YOU for being a wonderful part of the NCWC community. Hope to see you soon!
