Happy December & Happy Holidays!
Your wines are here and eager to be enjoyed. We’ll talk about them in a moment. First, the customary details:
The monthly free bottle winner is Amy Bloom. Congrats!
Your STOCK-UP DAYS for December are, conveniently enough, Saturday and Sunday, the 18th and 19th.
All four Club Wines will be available to taste this Wed-Thurs, December 1-2. This tasting is FREE for you and your spouse, or a friend.
Let’s get into the Club wines now, Silver first. The 2019 Jeff Carrel “Les Darons” is a red from France’s Languedoc region. 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5% Carignan, it received a 91 point score from Wine Advocate:
“This offers up penetrating raspberry and cherry aromas. It’s plump and creamy in texture, medium to full-bodied, supple and easy to drink.”
The 2019 Highlands Forty One “Black Granite” is a Paso Robles blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Petite Sirah and Tempranillo. 90 points and “Best Buy” from Wine Enthusiast:
“Big, booming aromas of black cherry, vanilla, caramel, cappucino and dark earth show on the nose of this ripe, powerful blend. Black cherry and blackberry jam are rich on the palate.”
Now for the Gold Wines. The 2017 Tenuta di Arceno Chianti Classico Riserva earned 93 points from James Suckling and 92 from Wine Advocate:
This opens with aromas of black cherry, blackberry and plum. On the palate, you get an equally broad assortment of dark fruit flavors, plus hints of nutmeg, tobacco and toasted almond.
Last but not least is the 2018 Epiphany “Inspiration” from Santa Barbara County. The blend is 42% Mourvedre, 27% Counoise, 26% Cinsault and 5% Grenache. 94 points Vinous.
“This is a powerful, savory wine. Pipe tobacco, blood orange, cedar, new leather, licorice, rose petal and mint are laced into a core of bright red berry fruit.”
THANK YOU and Happy Holidays! Have a wonderful month!
