Finally, our monthly Free Bottle winner is Phil Kennedy. Congratulations!
Now for the wines…
WINE CLUB TASTING NOTES:
Both Silver Level wines are from legendary importer Kermit Lynch, and the first is the 2020 Languedoc Cabrieres, a blend of 55% Syrah, 35% Grenache, 7% Carignan and 3% Cinsault.
The wine is juicy and bright, with subtle spice notes accenting the red and black fruit, plus an intriguing dusty earth note adding complexity.
Next is the 2021 Vaucluse, a blend of 55% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Merlot and 10% Marselan.
It offers fine structure to support tasty flavors of black cherry, blackberry, plum, spice and notes of loamy earth.
At the Gold Level we start with the 2016 Casa Emma Chianti Classico Riserva, 93 points James Suckling:
“Extroverted but elegant, this shows baking spices, dark cherries and plums, cedar, dried peppers and savory tones. It expertly weaves a fine line between richness, spiciness and freshness.”
And we close with the brand new vintage, 2019, of a perennial favorite, the Alto Moncayo Veraton from Spain’s Campo de Borja region. 91 points Wine Spectator:
“This is a silky red, offering an enticing, incense-laden range of raspberry puree and black plum, with lavender, iron and tea notes. It is full-flavored, harmonious and fresh.”
We look forward to helping you enjoy Valentine’s Day, and the entire month of February, in any and every way we can. Cheers, and thank you!
