The following Thanksgiving story may or may
not be true. We’ll let historians debate that.
But it is definitely ridiculous…
A long time ago, like around 1922 or so,
a bunch of folks from England decided to
set out for new lands, because they were
tired of English food, and also because
they had some outstanding parking tickets
they didn’t want to deal with. These dudes
called themselves Pilgrims.
So they piled on this ship called the
Mayflower and sailed across a hazardous
ocean, the Pacific I think it was, until
they landed on Chrysler Rock in America.
Or maybe it was Dodge rock. Something
about a car, I’m sure of it.
Anyway, they had no reservations or anything,
because Al Gore hadn’t invented the internet
yet. But that was cool, because the local
Indian tribe put them up in their casino.
It was here that the Pilgrim leader, Miles
Standish (played by Kevin Costner in the movie),
fell in love with Indian princess Sacagawea.
To celebrate their epic love, the two threw
a huge bash, complete with every kind of delicious
food imaginable, as well as cranberry sauce from
a can. They invited the Pilgrims, the Indians,
and a handful of acquaintances who had no place
else to go.
They held this soiree on the day before
Black Friday, because they wanted to fortify
themselves before a day of insane shopping.
All in all, it was a huge success that made
them feel very thankful. Thus a tradition was born.
The one glitch? No good wine to go with
the heaping platters of food! NCWC wasn’t
around back then to advise them, so they
chose beverages like acorn beer and turnip
wine. That crap just didn’t cut it.
Fortunately, you now have access to the
greatest wine shop and wine bar since
the invention of the grape.
And this Friday we are going to turn you
on to 7 awesome Feast Wines, perfect for
Thanksgiving or any other excuse for good
friends, good food, and good wine.
This tasting is available any time from
4-10 pm and costs $15, including snacks.

Pretty cool stuff! Know what else is cool?
Bill and I are actually distantly related
to Sacagawea (true story).
And some of you might be related to Miles
Standish (or Kevin Costner).
So let’s get together and keep this
glorious tradition going, only with
better wines. We’ll see you Friday!
