How Competitive Are Our Prices?

Our approach here at North County Wine Company
has always been to offer extremely competitive
prices. We know there are many places you can
go to purchase wine. So our combination of
service, knowledge, selection, and – yes, price –
absolutely must be top-notch.
That’s why we price-check the competition on
a regular basis, then let you know what we find.
On Sunday, April 2nd, I checked prices in the
Vista Costco. Why Costco? Sure, they are a very
different type of operation. They’re a gigantic
multi-national corporation that leverages their
enormous buying power to sell as cheaply as possible.
We, on the other hand, are a small local business
with exactly one location. Nevertheless, we like
the idea of checking ourselves against the biggest
wine retailer in the world!
So here’s what we found with the 14 wines we
have in common:
WINE – OUR PRICE – COSTCO PRICE
Meiomi Pinot Noir 15.97 16.99
Robert Hall Cabernet 14.97 13.89
Justin Cabernet 21.97 21.99
Cuttings Cabernet 33.97 39.99
Daou Pessimist 15.97 15.99
Zaca Mesa Syrah 13.97 13.99
Luca Malbec 24.97 24.99
Seghesio Sonoma Zinfandel 19.97 19.99
Tobin James Ballistic Zin 13.97 13.99
Roederer Estate Brut 17.97 17.99
Whispering Angel Rose 19.97 18.89
Blindfold White 19.97 22.99
Taylor Fladgate Tawny Port 26.97 21.99
Justin Isosceles 69.97 62.99
So, they beat us 4 times, we beat them 3 times,
and we’re tied on the other 7.
Surprised? Don’t be. We work very hard to stay
competitive on price. And we always will.
It’s part of our mission to provide you with
the very best wine shop and wine bar in town –
and by “town” we mean all of North County!
