A DAVID BRUCE WOW!
David Bruce is a huge name in the world
of wine. Famous for his Pinots, he also
crafts a number of other wines, including
this seriously good Russian River Valley
Chardonnay, the 2010.
Pale yellow in color, this wine is aromatic
and fresh with high acidity. The nose reveals
ripe lemon, white nectarine, and honeysuckle.
The flavors are complex and full, with soft
tropical fruit leading to peaches on a flinty
mid-palate, finishing strong with lemony,
Chablis-style acidity.
Let’s be honest. If you like that fat, hugely
oaky, Trinitas or Rombauer style, then
this may not be for you.
But if you like a balanced, flavorful, complex
Chardonnay that will actually go great
with food… come and get it!
$19.97 right here at NCWC.
WINESDAY FLIGHT:
In the 1860’s a French botanist with an interest
in grapevines accidentally ended up with a cross
between two different grapes, Syrah and Peloursin.
Once this new varietal was identified, it was
named after the botanist, whose last name
was Durif. The Durif vine didn’t perform well
in France, but it’s done some pretty good
work here in California, where it became known
as Petite Sirah.
We’re gonna show you, in fact, how very
good Durif can be this Winesday, 10/9.
For just ten bucks you get to enjoy a
half glass each of these:
Enkidu Lake County Petite Sirah 2008, $25.97
Girard Napa Valley Petite Sirah 2011, $23.97
R Clarksburg Petite Sirah 2011, $24.97
We’re quite confident that after tasting these
you will give thanks for accidents in botany!
