WINE OF THE WEEK:

When we see a great opportunity, we jump all over it and drink it right up!

As in this week’s WOW, the 2016 Opolo Mountain Zinfandel from Paso Robles.
This beauty nailed down a stellar 93 point score from Wine Enthusiast:

“Shows cohesive aromas of black plum, strawberry sorbet, vanilla and nutmeg
on the nose. The palate is full, rounded and rich in plum jam flavor, but with
enough baking spice and minerality to add elegance and intrigue.”

At the winery and online elsewhere we’re seeing this delicious wine go for
29-30 bucks. But here at NCWC it’s just 19.97. We’ve got it stacked and
waiting for you, so come and get it!

IMPRESSIVE WINERY EVENT!

Penfolds Winery in Australia is one of the world’s most storied producers. They’ve been around since 1844 – yes, you read that correctly – and create a wide array of amazing wines, including the iconic, spectacular, hugely expensive Grange.

We’re celebrating Penfolds this weekend. And while we won’t be pouring that super
famous Grange (although we have some in the shop; $500/bottle if you’re interested), we think we’ve got some pretty fine juice coming your way.

It’s $20/person to taste through this lineup. As a palate cleanser, we’ll begin with a
delicious Semillon from another Aussie producer, then off we go:

Torbreck Semillon 2016, 14.97. 89 points Bill Tobin.
Penfolds Bin 8 Cabernet-Shiraz 2012, 14.97.
Penfolds Bin 28 Shiraz 2011, 24.97. 90 points Wine Advocate.
Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet 2012, 59.97. 95 points James Halliday.
Penfolds RWT 2010, 119.97. 97 points Wine Enthusiast.
