WINE OF THE WEEK:
We’re not sure if the “joined at the hip”
connection between Beaujolais Nouveau
and Thanksgiving is due to the fact that
Nouveau is always released one week
prior to the holiday, or that it’s such a fun,
fruity wine that’s perfect for a party.
Either way, though, Beaujolais Nouveau
is one of the wines that belongs on your
Thanksgiving table!
Your WOW, then, is the 2013 Georges
Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau. Here are
the Wine Spectator’s words:
“Balanced and lightly creamy, offering pretty
flavors of plum sauce and raspberry coulis
threaded with hints of ground spice. Elegant,
with a floral finish.”
We have just a few cases of this to go
around, and at $9.97 it will go fast.
Come and get it!
PRE-THANKSGIVING WINESDAY FLIGHT:
So you reach Wednesday, November 27.
It’s probably been a crazy week. Turkey
Day prep, shopping, short work week, etc.
You’re ready for a break.
We are happy to oblige.
This Winesday we are offering a fun
pre-Thanksgiving flight. Just ten bucks
gets you a half glass each of these:
Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau, $9.97
-described above
Rock Wall Jessie’s Vineyard Zinfandel 2011, $16.97
-These 124 year-old-vines assert aromas and flavors
of juicy blackberry pie, chocolate, pipe tobacco,
black tea, raspberry, and a long spicy finish.
Simply delicious. The winery calls it their “big, bad-ass
Zin” for a reason!
Orin Swift Abstract 2012, $25.97 (new vintage!)
-the wine bursts with a perfume of dark fruit, sage,
acacia flowers, kirsch, and a hint of California chaparral.
Voluptuous in texture, the wine is remarkably fresh
on the palate with ripe blackberry, mulberry, roasted
plum, black tea, and bitter chocolate. A sweet and soft
tannin profile rounds out the finish, which lingers elegantly.
Join us, and let’s get this Thanksgiving
party started!
FRIDAY TASTING EVENT:
Got another fun tasting planned for this
coming Friday, November 29. Details will
