WINE OF THE WEEK:
Ask people where great Cabernet comes from and they’re likely to give you names like Napa, Sonoma, perhaps Paso Robles. But there’s a region in California that is definitely on the rise when it comes to this magnificent grape.
The place is Lake County, just above Napa County, and home to an appellation called Red Hills. This rural, sparsely-populated area is thought to have so much potential it has even drawn legendary viticulturalist Andy Beckstoffer.
Our WOW comes from there, and we think it’s quite a find. The 2015 Steele Red Hills Cabernet Sauvignon also got excellent recognition from Wine Spectator, with this 91 point note:
“Deftly balanced, rich and layered, with a mix of mocha- and herb-laced currant, plum, herb and light cedar flavors. Very impressive for the long, pure finish.”
This bottle is just 19.97, and available to taste as part of our Wednesday flight!
