WINE OF THE WEEK:
Check out this WOW! It’s the 2013
Carmenet Chardonnay:
Lush butterscotch and tropical fruit flavors
caress the palate, along with a delightful
vanilla note from barrel fermentation. It
finishes smooth and tasty, calling you back
for sip after sip after sip.
Sounds like it might be $20 – $25, right?
Nope. Just $7.97 here at NCWC. Come
and get it!
WINESDAY FLIGHT:
We have a very, very interesting flight in store
for you this Wednesday, 1/28.
One wine from Italy, one from France, one
from Argentina. All exceptional.
Ten dollars will induce us to pour you a
half glass each of these:
Montefalco Rosso 2010, $19.97
-89 points Wine Spectator
Domaine Soumade Gigondas 2011, $35.97
-91 points Tobin Bros.
Zolo Black Malbec 2010, $31.97
-90 points Jim
Best deal anywhere. Which is how we roll.
(Keep reading for more on that whole
“best deal anywhere” concept.)
PRICE COMPARISON:
We make a practice of keeping an eye on
wine prices throughout North County, just
to make sure we’re consistently offering
you Great Wines at Great Prices.
We even extend that attitude towards the
great and mighty Costco. Most wine shops
steer clear of anything that “the big C” carries,
because they of course have gigantic
purchasing power and negotiate fiercely.
But we’re too stupid to know any better.
Last week we checked out the San Marcos
Costco, and here’s what we found.
We have 20 wines in common with them.
Out of those 20, our price is the same –
or better – 16 times.
Of the 4 where they beat us, one is a
$40+ Champagne where they’ve got us
by $3. On two other wines, it’s by $1. Then
there’s one where the difference is 20 cents.
(stop by if you’d like us to share all the details)
We don’t mention this to “take them on.”
They’re Goliath; we’re a small, family-run
business.
Just posting this to let you know how
serious we are about our wine shop prices.
Our shop carries 600 wines, all hand-picked
by two guys with over 60 years combined
experience.
If you think of us as only a nice place to grab a
glass or a tasting, well, we urge you to take a
closer look at the other half of the building!
THE PENNY SALE RETURNS!
Our Penny Sale starts this Friday, 1/30.
More details coming in a couple days!
