WINE OF THE WEEK:

For some time now Beckmen has been one of our favorite – and most popular –
Santa Ynez producers. They planted their first vineyard in 1994, followed by their
Purisima Mountain Vineyard in then-unheard-of Ballard Canyon two years later.

To this day they continue to make outstanding wines using only estate fruit,
which brings us to our WOW – the 2016 Beckmen Purisima Mountain Syrah.

The wine nailed a stellar 93 point score from Vinous, whose note discusses
its immediate primary appeal as well as its ageability. These are the winery’s words:

“Dark chocolate, plum, blackberry, vanilla, black pepper, grilled meats, and game are hallmarks of Purisima Mountain Syrah and the 2016 is loaded with them! Big and powerful, yet elegant and complex, this is an incredible vintage.”

Our typical price on this amazing Syrah is 26.97, and it is well worth it. But this week
