WINE OF THE WEEK:
Boy, oh boy, are we excited about this one.
The 2012 Vietti Nebbiolo Perbacco received
92 points from Antonio Galloni, along with
this stellar write-up:
“The 2012 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco is fabulous.
Floral and lifted, the 2012 is one of the more refined
editions of Perbacco I can remember tasting. The
flavors are bright, focused and beautifully articulated
throughout. Chalky notes support a sculpted, brilliant
finish laced with hints of orange peel, white pepper and
crushed rocks. Simply put, I can’t recommend it highly
enough. This is as good as it gets for the money.”
Probably the most effusive note I’ve ever read from
Galloni. Makes you think this wine sells for fifty,
sixty, seventy bucks, right?
Nope, not here. Just $23.97. Come try it and buy it!
INFORMATIVE TIDBITS:
Easter is this coming Sunday, 4/5, and we will be
CLOSED Easter Sunday to enjoy the day with
family. Usual hours every other day.
Next, a couple dates to mark on the ol’ calendar.
Powell Mountain winemaker event is Friday, 4/10.
Wente Winery event is Friday, 4/24. Both will be
awesome; hope to see you here!
WINESDAY FLIGHT THIS APRIL FOOLS DAY!
If you’ve been with us for at least a year, you
may recall that last year I got the “brilliant” idea
to send out a joke email on April first.
Something about how we sold out to an
intergalactic hospitality firm, and NCWC
would now be run by space aliens.
Well, turns out my writing was too subtle that day.
Lots of people didn’t get it. Thought we really had
sold out. Missed the little clues I placed in the
email, one of which was that the firm was based
in the galaxy of Andromeda.
Putting out all the fires from that conflagration
was quite interesting, to say the least.
So, no big joke email this year. My apologies to
those who DID get it and thought it was hysterical.
To make up for the absence of a good April Fools
joke, we’re offering a stellar Top Flight this
Wednesday, 4/1. Seriously. Just $15 for a half
glass each of these:
Chavy-Chouet Bourgogne Blanc 2012, $23.97
-88 points Jim Tobin
Bruliam Pinot Noir Sangiacomo Vineyard 2012, $39.97
-92 points Bill Tobin
La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 2004, $54.97
-96 points Wine Advocate
Terrific wines for the start of another terrific month
right here in paradise!
As an added bonus, we’ve invited a special guest
to pour these for you. His name is Zaphod
Beeblebrox, and he is a hoot.
See you Wednesday!
