WINE OF THE WEEK:
Well, here’s a fun one for you! The 2016 E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone received so many 90+ point scores, we had a hard time deciding which one to show you. How about this 91 point note from Wine & Spirits magazine:
“This contrasts sweet, juicy plum fruit and firm, spicy tannins with some earthy notes and bright cranberry highlights…. A blend of syrah with grenache and mourvèdre, it is mellowed in barrels for 18 months before release. It’s an impressively structured and complex Côtes du Rhône red. Best Buy”
The Wine Advocate calls it “ripe, silky, and a terrific value.” James Suckling says it’s “rich and attractive. Jeb Dunnuck calls it “ripe and sexy.”
We could go on and on, but we’ll respect your time and leave it at this. A tasty GSM from the southern Rhone Valley, this is quite a value at just 13.97/bottle.
