In a surprising development, North County
Wine Company operators Jim and Bill
Tobin announced today the sale of their
wine shop and wine bar, including all
inventory and assets, to the intergalactic
company Andromeda Hospitality Group.

AHG, based of course in the galaxy of
the same name, operates myriad hotels,
restaurants, bistros and bars throughout
many galaxies, including the well-known
“Restaurant at the end of the Universe.”

A spokesman for AHG, Xslnrk Dolrq,
said, “We have long desired entry into
the lucrative Milky Way market, and
we felt that this particular shop on Earth
offered us a great foothold from which
to expand.”

NCWC owner Jim Tobin commented
that “AHG and NCWC are truly a great
fit. Many of our customers have told
us how spacey we are.”

Resident wine geek Bill Tobin admitted,
“I had concerns at first. But when I
heard I would be kept on as a consultant,
and still get paid in wine, I was cool
with it.”

Dolrq added, “The deal wouldn’t have
worked without Jim and Bill agreeing
to stay on in a consulting capacity.
They clearly contribute a great deal
to the rather, ahem, unique voice
of this establishment.”

Jim and Bill urged all customers to
embrace the change. “If you thought
we got some crazy characters in here
before,” Jim said, “wait ’til you see
what happens now!”

WINE OF THE WEEK:

Your WOW this time around is the 2011
Flora Springs Chardonnay, which of course
is the worthy successor to the 2010 that
was so incredibly popular.

These are the winemaker’s words:

“The 2011 vintage has hints of orange peel, caramel
and honey. The palate is rich with sweet pear, fig
and vanilla. The wine finishes with an elegant toasty
brioche character. This vintage is much more rich
and supple in texture as we elected to have 57%
of it undergo malolatic fermentation. This wine is a
terrific accompaniment to a wide array of culinary dishes.”
