WINE OF THE WEEK:
You may not currently be a regular consumer
of French Grenache, but this WOW might turn
you into one!
It’s the 2012 Domaine Pertuisane “Le Nain Violet”
Grenache from the Cotes Catalanes region in
the south of France, and it is a stunner.
Here’s the 92-point assessment from Wine Advocate:
“This is a brilliant success. It offers gorgeous lavender,
pepper and violets to go with a core of kirsch and sweet
blackberry-like fruit. Full-bodied, layered and seamless,
with polished tannins and a taut, energetic vibe, it can be
consumed anytime over the coming 7-8 years, if not longer.”
Sounds expensive, and indeed we see it online for $34
and up. But here at the BEST wine shop in town, this
remarkable and delicious wine is just $19.97.
