JUST SO WE’RE CLEAR…
To everyone who merely skimmed the email newsletter from Tuesday, April 1, we have NOT sold the shop to a company from a distant galaxy! That was actually an APRIL FOOL’S JOKE. Please spread the word, to help us quell the panic! 🙂
WINE OF THE WEEK:
Now that THAT’S taken care of, let’s talk
about your WOW.
The 2010 Patassy Pinot Noir from Green
Valley of Russian River Valley has been
an-ever popular, fruit forward Pinot here
at $16.97.
So much so that we made it a wine
club selection for April of this year.
Then the winery sold, and the Patassy
family, being responsible for all wine
up to and including the 2010’s, decided
to close it out at a ridiculous price.
A Northern California grocery chain
grabbed most if it, but we managed
to snag the last 20 cases.
And we offer it to you at a mere $8.97
per bottle. Which is pretty crazy
for a Russian River Valley Pinot.
Here’s our note:
The nose hits you with a burst of ripe
strawberry fruit accented by cherry cola
and a dollop of vanilla creme. The flavors
echo that in juicy, drinkable style, but
with enough acidity for food-friendliness,
plus spice and subtle floral and earth notes.
Come on in and try this. If it tickles
your fancy, snap it up before it’s gone!
WINESDAY FLIGHT:
This “Winesday,” April 9th, we’re
offering a fascinating flight of
wines from import specialist
Robert Cassaras of H. Mercer Wines.
Robert will join us this evening,
from about 5:30-9, as we treat you
to a half glass each of three
remarkable wines. Cost is $15.
Blau Haus Blaufrankisch 2010, $14.97
-“pleasantly spicy nose; flavors reminiscent of
blackberry and currant, a bold wine with perfectly
integrated ripe tannins and a lingering finish.”
Domaine Prieur-Brunet Bourgogne 2011, $18.97
-Ripe plums and cherries on the nose, with an
underlying brambly earth note. Crisp with
acidity and showing moderate tannins, this
is a great introduction to Burgundy.
Moorooduc Estate Pinot Noir 2010, $43.97
-“the bouquet is loaded with seductive sweet red
and black fruits, Asian spices and a little gamey
complexity; the palate is silky and seductive
on entry, the mid-palate with a firm structure in
harmony with the generous fruit; long, layered
and expansive.”
When was the last time you got to taste
a Blaufrankisch, a red Burgundy, and an
Australian Pinot Noir in one sitting?
Sounds like a great opportunity to be
a true wine geek! Join us!!
