WINE OF THE WEEK:
Keeping it real simple this week!
Nothing exotic or wild or too complicated.
Just a kick-ass Chardonnay at a great
price.
Talking ’bout the San Simeon Chardonnay
2012 from Monterey:
It shows classic Chardonnay character with
aromas and flavors of butterscotch, peaches,
pears, green apples and hints of tropical fruit,
plus a nice hint of vanilla due to oak aging.
Plus, unlike all too many unfortunate Cali
Chards, it shows fine acid balance, producing
a fine thirst-quenching character that keeps
the taste buds dancing!
This delicious wine is just $12.97 at NCWC.
If you want to taste it first, you certainly may.
We’ll have it available in the bar all week.
WINESDAY FLIGHT:
Think about this question for a sec.
How many wine bars in this town,
state, country, or universe would
offer you a 3-wine flight that includes
a 96 point Cabernet…
and ask just ten bucks for it?
You’re right. The answer is: just us.
This Wednesday, 6/18, $10 gets you
a half glass each of these:
San Simeon Chardonnay 2012
-described above
Tapiz Malbec 2011
-90 points Wine Spectator; “toasty
and concentrated, with nutmeg, cocoa
powder and licorice accents to the cassis
and dark cherry flavors.”
Goldschmidt Game Ranch Cabernet 2008
-96 points Wine Enthusiast; “rich and appealing,
vast in flavor and luxurious in texture. It shows
Oakville character in its smooth, velvety tannins
and overall balance, with ripe blackberry, currant
and dark chocolate flavors.”
Lovely midweek extravaganza, don’t you think?
We’d love to see you!
