WINE OF THE WEEK: Back in the ’70’s that iconic Napa winery called Caymus made a Rose’ they called “Oeil de Perdrix,” French for “eye of the partridge.” The name is a reference to the pale pink color of typical French Rose’s and is a traditional term in that country.
They didn’t make that wine for long, but Joe Wagner, grandson of Caymus founder
Charlie Wagner, has resurrected it beautifully.
You may know Joe as the producer of the extremely popular Pinot Noir brand
Belle Glos. Well, under that same brand name he now makes a delicious
Rose’ of Pinot Noir that he calls “Oeil de Perdrix,” in honor of that family legacy.
The online store wine.com gave this a 91 point rating: “This wine is fresh, bright, and appealing. Its aromas and flavors of wild strawberries and tart citrus should make it a lovely match with sashimi,” sushi, and a wide array of other light dishes. It also makes a fantastic aperitif!
This stellar Rose’ is normally 24.97 here at the store. But we have a smokin’ hot price
for you – 16.97/bottle. That’s about 32% off, and a great deal on this wine.
We have it available in the bar, if you’d like to give it a try. Cheers!
ANNIVERSARY PARTY!
We can’t believe how fast the time flies. This month marks our 9th year in business,
which of course means it’s time for our epic Anniversary Party!
This is a two-day event that falls on the last weekend in July, the 26th and 27th.
We kick off the celebrations by sabering Champagne bottles at 5:00 sharp on
Friday. We encourage you to be here for that spectacle! Not only is it fun to watch,
you’ll get a free splash of bubbles as a reward.
And oh, the tasting opportunities! We will have a fantastic Top Shelf Tasting –
which we will tell you more about soon. And we’ll also have out-of-this-world
by the glass specials on the 2002 Piper-Heidsieck Rare Champagne, and the
2012 Penfolds Bin 707 Cabernet. (those are $150 and $400 bottles of wine, btw)
Of course, we will also be giving away raffle prizes both days. And we’ll have food
to nibble on. And a number of folks have already offered to bring in more food,
potluck style. Feel free to do likewise if the spirit moves you!
This is truly the event of the year. Make plans to be here on the 26th and/or 27th.
COOL FLIGHTS THIS WEEK!
First, your midweek flight, available Wednesday and Thursday. We’re giving you a
half glass each of two stellar beauties from a high-end, boutique producer called
Levantine Hill.
We’re pouring their 2016 Chardonnay and 2015 Pinot Noir, both from Yarra Valley,
and both the epitome of elegance and complexity.
This flight is a rare treat, and a steal at just $15.
Then this Friday and Saturday we’ve got a great flight that will answer one of
the most frequent questions we get: “What do YOU like to drink?”
Details on that coming soon. Have a great week!
