WINE OF THE WEEK:
Is it really possible to find a 97 point wine for under $30? We would have had serious doubts if it weren’t for a recent discovery – the 2015 Scattered Peaks Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.
The 97 point score comes from Decanter Magazine, one of the most highly regarded wine publications in the world. Here is their note:
“Roasted herb, coffee, black cherry and blackberry compote on the nose. The palate is rich and concentrated but never heavy, with a lively acidity providing a sense of movement. Tannins are mighty and show that this will blossom with more time.”
True that. Impressive now, this wine has a very bright future ahead of it, for those who can lay it down and keep their hands off it for a few years!
The wine is 93% Cabernet, with the other four Bordeaux varietals making up the remainder. Truly an impressive wine, and a stellar value at 29.97/bottle.
(You may even try it this Wednesday, when we will have it open at the bar for just $5/half glass)
(and speaking of Wednesdays, NEXT Wednesday the 22nd will be a splash of cool juicy fun, as we make our famous Sangria and dole it out for just $5/glass!)
WEEKEND TOP FLIGHT!
