WINE OF THE WEEK:
Over time we have become somewhat suspicious
of wines with goofy or cutesy labels. Why? Because
quite often the juice inside isn’t up to snuff.
Not so with this week’s WOW, however! The 2014
Zio Porco Porseo Bianco from the Veneto region of Italy
is a fantastic blend of Garganega, Vespaiolo, and
Sauvignon Blanc.
The label? It carries an image of a wild pig, with
the motto, “may the porc be with you,” and the
moniker “flying white pig.”
(The Flying Pig restaurant should really make this
their house wine)
All that silliness aside, though, the wine shows bright
lemon and lime on the nose. That follows through on
the palate in delicious fashion, with an interesting
mineral note adding complexity.
If you enjoy dry whites, especially Old World ones,
this is definitely for you. 17.97 here at NCWC.
WINESDAY FLIGHT:

Cheers!
4TH ANNUAL BRO-DOWN!
The time is now, and now’s the time!
For what, you ask?
It is time for what may very well be the most legendary
event of all…
The FOURTH ANNUAL BRO-DOWN!!!
The day: Friday, September 18th
The time: any time from 4-10 pm
Cost: $20
The WHAT is the annual grudge match between Jim & Bill,
each trying to prove who picks the best wines.
Each brother picks 4 wines, one each in the categories
of white wine, blend, import, and Cabernet.
Then we pair them off, one against the other, without
telling you which brother picked what wine.
You taste all 8 wines, pick your favorite in each category,
and your favorite overall. We tally all the votes, and a
CHAMPION IS CROWNED!
We’re pulling out all the stops and picking fantastic wines,
because we both want to win.
So come taste, and determine which brother reigns
supreme in 2015!!!
