CHECK OUT THE WOW!

Here at NCWC “WOW” stands for
Wine of the Week, but of course
there are times when it also stands
for “wow!” As in, “Wow, that’s a
heckuva deal!”

This week we’re talking about a
classic blend from Paso Robles
winery L’Aventure. It’s called
Optimus, and it’s a blend of 55%
Syrah, 27% Cab, and 18% Petit
Verdot.

This vintage, the 2010, received 94
points from the Rhone Report:

“Deep purple and glass staining, this is
a perfumed, lavishly fruited effort that
gives up notions of black currants, lead
pencil, mint, tobacco, and violets to go
with a full-bodied, soft, supple, and open
knit palate feel. The purity here is exceptional,
and the texture is pure silk; it is ready to go
now, and should shine for 8-10 years.”

As for price, it’s $45 at the winery and $41.99
at a different wine shop nearby. Our price
is $39.99. But if you buy 12 you get it for
just $35/bottle.

We don’t typically do case discounts,
because our prices are already discounted
so low. But one of our competitors is
offering that case deal, and we refuse
to be undersold!

WINESDAY IS SANGRIA DAY!

Summer is here, the days are longer,
the weather is warmer, the drinks can be stronger!

I just made up that little poem, and I’m
thinking Keats, Shakespeare, and Whitman
would be jealous. (of course, I’m pretty
good at deluding myself)

Anyway, we’ve been hearing the drumbeat
of demand for us to break out the Sangria
punch bowl again, so that’s exactly what
we’re gonna do!

This Wednesday, 6/26, our wild and wicked
summer punch will be available from 5-9,
just five bucks per glass. We’ll put out
some munchies for you too, just for fun.
