Hi there, and cheers!
We start with a reminder that your
1st Quarter Stock-up Days are the final
weekend in February, 2/22-2/23.
That’s when you get 10% off everything
in the store, so please make a note of it!
Your Wine Pick-up Party this month will
on the FIRST TUESDAY, February 4th,
anytime from 5-9 pm. We’ll have both
the Silver and Gold level wines available
to taste, and doing so costs you nothing.
Congratulations to our February winner of the
monthly free bottle, Roy Litzenberg. Roy, you may
choose any past or present Silver Level bottle.
Now for the wines, beginning with Silver Level:
The 2009 Teague Cabernet Sauvignon hails
from San Benito, with the grower/winemaker
selling fruit to Leal Winery, but holding on to
just enough to make a little bit for himself.
This is one you’re probably not going to find
anywhere else, but it’s a terrific wine and
great value. It shows off the classic Cab profile,
with cassis and black cherry flavors accented
by cedar and vanilla notes. It’s smooth and
delightful.
Silver #2 is the 2012 Trentadue Zinfandel
from Alexander Valley. This is downright
delicious, with aromas and flavors of big
ripe cherries, plums, and boysenberries.
Accent notes include red licorice, cocoa
powder, vanilla, and brambles, with moderate
tannins framing all that tasty fruit.
Now for the Gold Level, we begin with the 2009
Goldschmidt Forefathers Cabernet Sauvignon
from Lone Tree Vineyard in Alexander Valley.
92 points from Wine Enthusiast:
“This has been a very successful second label from
Goldschmidt, and with this 2009, they again hit gold.
The wine is smoothly tannic and dry in black cherry
pie and red currant flavors, with all kinds of interesting
herb, carob bean, spice and oak complications. It’s
elegant and complex to drink now and over the next 6 years.”
Finally, we offer the 2010 Provocative Cabernet
from Ahnfeldt Winery, with Paul Hobbs as
consulting winemaker.
The bouquet brims with sweet cherry and milk
chocolate, as well as caramel and cinnamon in the
background. There are also hints of currant and
sandalwood. The entry is smooth and balanced
with medium body and flavors echoing the bouquet.
Again, all four of these wines will be available
for you to taste on TUESDAY, 2/4.
Kind of a Cabernet extravaganza this month;
come check ’em out!
We hope you have a wonderful month,
and a terrific Valentine’s Day!
