Greetings and happy summer!
Your Wine Club wines are here and
ready for you. If you’d like to taste all
four, the Pick-up Party is WEDNESDAY,
June 4th, any time from 5-9. Come taste
the club wines for free, and mingle with
fellow members.
Our monthly WINNER is Theresa Moore.
Theresa, feel free to select any past or
present Silver level wine.
As for your quarterly STOCK UP DAYS,
for the second quarter they fall on the
first weekend in June, the 7th and 8th.
That’s when you get 10% off everything
in the store, so take advantage of that!
Now for the wines, starting with the Silvers.
First we’ve got the 2012 Tikal Patriota from
Argentina, 60% Malbec and 40% Bonarda.
Wine Spectator gave this 91 points:
“A rich red, packed with concentrated flavors
of blackberry, dark plum and mocha, featuring
plenty of dark chocolate notes. Offers a ripe
texture, with creamy accents and hints of savory
herb on the long finish. Drink now through 2020”
The second silver is the 2011 Maquis Cabernet
Sauvignon from Chile’s Colchagua Valley.
This also got 91 points from the Spectator:
“The dark chocolate and mint flavors mix easily
in this velvety red. Very creamy, with plenty of lift
to the Asian spice notes. The long, lush finish is
supported by medium-grained tannins, featuring
a minerally essence.”
Now to the Gold Level. The 2011 Gary Farrell
Russian River Valley Pinot Noir has not been
rated. These are the winery’s notes:
“This wine exudes complex aromas of cherry
compote, candied ginger,cedar, tangerine zest,
black pepper and sweet cherry wood followed by
an intriguing flavor profile of wild berry preserves,
hibiscus, pomegranate liqueur and plum chutney.
Incredibly balanced and nicely nuanced, the finish
offers velvety tannins and bright, crisp acidity.”
Finally, we offer the 2011 Robert Craig Affinity
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, which
got 92 points from Antonio Galloni:
“Iron, smoke, tobacco, underbrush and a swath
of dark fruit flow across the palate as it opens up.
The Affinity has a little more inner sweetness and
perfume than the other Robert Craig Cabernets,
and it finishes with the a similar sense of overall
structure. This is a terrific showing.”
Delicious wines, all eager to go home with you.
Come taste all four at the Pick-up Party,
which again is WEDNESDAY, 6/4.
Have a fantastic month of June!
