Good day and Good May to you!
Your Wine Club wines are here and
ready for you. If you’d like to taste all
four, the Pick-up Party is WEDNESDAY,
May 7th, any time from 5-9. Come taste
the club wines for free, and mingle with
fellow members.
Our monthly WINNER is Joan Miguel.
Joan, feel free to select any past or
present Silver level wine.
As for your quarterly STOCK UP DAYS,
for the second quarter they fall on the
first weekend in June, the 7th and 8th.
Now for the wines, starting with the Silvers.
First we’ve got the 2011 Busca Pinot Noir
from the Russian River Valley.
It’s richly scented with ripe cherries and vanilla.
You get plenty of that on the palate, along with cola,
subtle earth and smoke notes. It’s smooth, with that
classic Pinot acidity that helps make it such a great
match with food.
Next we got to Paso Robles, and the 2010
Niner Syrah, 93 points Beverage Tasting
Institute.
Attractive aromas of berry cobbler, creamy mocha
and toffee with a silky medium-to-full body and a
tangy berry, blood orange, and spice finish. A
polished, seamless syrah for sipping or the table.
Now to the Gold Level. The 2011 Alto Moncayo
Veraton is from Campo de Borja, Spain, and
got 92 points from the Wine Advocate:
“Fabulous nose of spring flowers, ground pepper,
blackberries and black cherry liqueur is followed
by a full-bodied, super-intense wine, aged 17 months
in a combination of French and American oak before
being bottled unfiltered. This superb wine easily
competes with wines priced two to three times higher.”
Finally, we offer the 2008 Brunello di Montalcino
from Silvio Nardi, 92 points James Suckling and
91 from Antonio Galloni:
“Tobacco, dried herbs, cedar, plums and cloves
are nicely layered in the glass. Firm yet
well-integrated tannins support a mid-weight finish
laced with expressive floral notes.”
Pretty good stuff, we think you’ll agree!
Come taste all four at the Pick-up Party,
which again is WEDNESDAY, 5/7.
Have a wonderful month!
