Wow, October already! Here’s the NCWC Wine Club Scoop.
Your Pick-up Party is Tuesday, 10/6. Come on in
and taste all Club wines, any time from 4-9.
Our monthly BOTTLE WINNER is Mike Brubeck. Mike,
you get to pick any past or present Silver level wine.
Now let’s talk about the Silver level wines. First is the
Marietta Lot 62 Old Vine Red, from California’s North Coast.
90 points Wine Spectator:
“A zesty red, with personality to spare, offering notes of licorice,
blackberry, smoky pepper and grilled herbs. Zinfandel, Petite Sirah,
Syrah and mixed Italian blacks.”
Next is the 2013 Benmarco Malbec from Valle de Uco,
Argentina. 92 points James Suckling:
“A balanced and refined red with blueberry, blackberry and
hints of cloves. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a fresh finish.”
Now for the Gold level. We offer the 2012 Hall Napa
Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
This displays vibrant aromas of currants, blackberry, dark chocolate,
spice, and a floral lift of fresh rose. The palate is bright, concentrated
and dense with plenty of structured tannins buttressed by French oak,
resulting in an integrated and complex whole. Dark fruit flavors with clove,
pepper, hints of wet stone. Beautiful fruit/oak balance. Round and lush
with a surprisingly long finish full of dark fruit feedback.
Finally there is the 2012Mi Sueno Pinot Noir from Carneros.
This elegant Pinot offers cherry, red plum, and strawberry
aromas accented by loamy earth. On the palate those
aromas turn to flavors, nice and juicy up front, gradually
drying under the influence of moderate, dusty tannins,
revealing loamy earth with subtle notes of tea leaves and
dried herbs. Altogether an outstanding bottle of wine.
Come see us for the Pick-up Party this Tuesday,
10/6. We’d love to pour these fine wines for you.
Cheers, cheers, and more cheers!
