We sincerely hope you and yours are safe and sound, and that you stay that way. Here’s to a healthy second half of 2020 for all of us! We’ve got an exciting batch of Club Wines for you. First, though, a couple quick announcements. The winner of the FREE bottle for June is Amy Ramos, who gets to choose any past or present Silver level wine. Congrats! Your STOCK-UP DAYS for June, when you get that helpful discount on wine purchases, are Friday and Saturday, the 19th and 20th. That of course is Father’s Day weekend, which makes it a great opportunity to pick up something awesome for Dad! And now for the wines, Silver first. The 2015 Hoopla “The Mutt” is a Napa Valley blend of 81% Merlot and 19% Cabernet. Cherry, plum, and blackberry notes take center stage, with suggestions of vanilla, violet, and olive adding complexity. Then we jump to Tuscany with the 2012 Viticcio Bolgheri, another Bordeaux-style blend of 60% Cab, 30% Merlot, and 10% Cab Franc. This shows lovely, polished balance, with dark fruit, spice, coffee, and cocoa notes, as well as a hint of flinty earthiness. Time to go Gold. The 2018 Purple Hands Lone Oak Ranch Pinot Noir hails from Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Pomegranate, strawberry, and dark cherry notes all swirl across the palate, with accents of spice, loam, and cola. Fine structure and acidity make this a natural for food pairing. Finally, we have the 2016 Adelaida Cabernet from Paso’s Adelaida District. It has spicy wild blackberries, blackcurrants, kirsch, pepper and cedar on the nose plus touches of tobacco, dried herbs, potpourri and red fruit. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is classically styled with restrained red and black fruits and loads of spices. It has a firm, fine-grained frame and seamless freshness on the long, nuanced finish. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for your continued support! We plan on doing our very best to stay safe and sane, and we hope you do likewise. Cheers!
