Before we get to your club wines,
just a quick mention that your 2015
1st Quarter Stock-up Days fall on
February 21-22, which of course is
Saturday and Sunday.
Your Pick-up Party is Tuesday, 1/6.
Come on in and taste all Club wines,
any time from 5-9.
Our monthly WINNER is Michael Hill.
Michael, feel free to select any past or
present Silver level wine.
Now for the wines, starting with the Silvers.
The 2013 Andrew Murray Syrah is from
the Santa Ynez Valley. These are the winery’s
words, and we have to agree:
“Remarkably dark and full-bodied, and yet it has
such gentle tannins. It is truly a pleasure to drink,
with lots of fruit and spices. No need to wax poetic
about this one as it tastes just plain yummy.”
The 2011 Breca from Calatayud, Spain, is
100% Garnacha. Wine Spectator awarded
this wine with 90 points:
“This dense red shows a savory character, with tar,
ink and licorice notes framing the core of plum and
meat flavors. Features firm, well-integrated tannins
and fresh acidity. Distinctive.”
Moving to the Gold Level wines, the 2011 Anaba
Pinot Noir is from Sonoma Coast. It received
93 points From Pinot Report.
This lively wine opens with aromas of ripe, red cherry,
cola and toasty oak. On the palate, the bright,
brambly red fruits are layered with allspice, rose petals,
and a hint of white pepper. It’s beautifully balanced.
The 2008 D Cubed Petite Sirah is from Napa Valley
and received a 92 point score from Wine Spectator:
“Shows aromatic cinnamon and nutmeg notes up front,
with a core of lively wild blackberry and blueberry flavors.
Elegant, juicy and sophisticated, with Petite-like tannins
lending traction. Drink now through 2022.”
Please join us at the Pick-up Party, which again is
Tuesday, 1/6/15.
Have an awesome month. Let’s get 2015 off
to a fantastic start!
