Now for the wines…
WINE CLUB TASTING NOTES:
Beginning with the Silver Level, we have the 2016 Lan Rioja Reserva, 91 points Wine Spectator:
Made from Tempranillo and Mazuelo, “this is harmonious and juicy, laced with cherry and red plum flavors. It is bright on the palate but also round, showing elements of spice and cedar that creep in as this cruises through a succulent finish.”
Next is the 2019 Marcelo Pelleriti Cabernet Franc from Argentina. 95 points James Suckling:
“This begins with aromas of currants, blackberries, violets, tobacco and wild herbs, plus hints of spice and dark chocolate. Held together by firm tannins, the polished layers of ripe fruit, spice and herbs blend seamlessly.”
Now for Gold Level. The 2019 Acclivity Cabernet hails from Alexander Valley, and it is a beauty.
It delivers aromas of cedar, mocha, cocoa powder, blackberry and blackcurrant. On the palate, all that follows through, with balancing tannins adding just the right amount of grip through the finish.
Last but not least is the 2020 Thread Feathers Cabernet from Oakville, the heart of Napa Valley.
The wine is from a single vineyard, right next door to very famous neighbors like Opus One, To Kalon, Cardinale and Far Niente. Black cherry and blueberry pie aromas are accented by spice and vanilla. The palate delivers more of the same, well structured and with a nice long finish.
We begin the New Year with a deep sense of gratitude for your friendship and support. Cheers to 2023, and cheers to you!
