Hello October, and hello new Club Wines! Let’s get down to it.
Your Pick-up Party, which is your opportunity to taste all 4 Club wines
for free, is on Wednesday the 4th, from 5-9.
The monthly BOTTLE WINNER is Marcelle McAfee. Congratulations, Marcelle!
As for your Q4 Stock-up Days, they fall on the last weekend in November,
the 25th and 26th. That’s as close as we get to the “Black Friday” madness. 😉
Here are the Silver wines. First is the new vintage of a huge shop favorite,
the 2014 Brancaia Tre Toscana. The wine is 80% Sangiovese and 10% each
Cabernet and Merlot. 92 points James Suckling:
“Crushed berries with cappuccino and hints of underbrush. This is really
delicious with showy red fruit-oriented flavors, and really juicy.”
Silver #2 is the 2016 House of Cards Red from Napa County. A blend of
Cabernet with Petit Verdot, Merlot, and a touch of Zinfandel, this is rich and tasty.
Red and dark fruits are apparent in the nose with plum, cherry and
blueberry tones. The aroma is elegant and shows subtle signs of vanilla
oak nuances. The palate delights with deep red currant and peach fruit.
The finish lingers and is framed by ripe tannins and balancing acidity.
Now for the Gold Level. The 2014 Treana Cabernet from Paso Robles
received a 94 point “Editors Choice” score from Wine Enthusiast:
“For lovers of the rich and ripe Paso style. Aromas of candied black cherry
and vanilla pudding meet with roasted game and crushed gravel on the nose.
Vanilla holds strong into the palate, where it blends with blueberry syrup and
blackened caramel. Good acidity and chalky tannins complete the experience.”
Last up is the 2015 Ayni Malbec from Chakana. This Mendoza beauty
got 92 points from Vinous:
“Sexy scents and flavors of dark berries, mocha, minerals and smoked meat.
Concentrated, seamless wine with a captivating restrained sweetness and
terrific energy lending shape and definition to the middle palate. Serious
fine-grained tannins give this wine the structure for mid-term aging.”
We’re quite pleased with these, and sincerely hope you enjoy them too. Cheers!
