Now here are your wines, Silver Level first. The 2015 Breca Garnacha comes from high altitude vineyards in Calatayud, Spain, and vines that are up to 115 years old. Here’s the 92 point note from Wine Spectator:
“Round, smooth and dense, this red shows harmony and balance. Plum and blackberry flavors mingle with black olive, toast and mineral notes, supported by well-integrated tannins and fresh acidity, leaving a lovely floral finish.”
Silver #2 is the 2016 Firestone Cabernet from Santa Ynez Valley. Here is the
92 point, Editor’s Choice note from Wine Enthusiast:
“This is a very savory and quite compelling Cabernet, starting with aromas of black pepper, tar, dried olive and yet also a bright fresh boysenberry kick. The palate is framed by lavish, silky tannins that envelop flavors of cassis, black cherry and baking spice, with continued layers of Sichuan peppercorn and plum arising into the finish.”
Now for the Gold Level. First up we have the 2013 Fort Ross FRV Pinot Noir from
the Fort Ross-Seaview appellation of the Sonoma Coast.
The aromas evoke delicate black tea, dried rose petals and orange peel harmoniously interwoven with elements of forest floor. The beautifully integrated palate is defined by red fruits, raspberry and dark cherry keenly balanced by the complexity of baking spices and savory notes, followed by the vineyard’s signature minerality and acidity.
Finally, we offer the 2012 Lealtanza Rioja Reserva, 97 points Decanter:
“Complex and well-balanced bouquet. Well-layered nose of raspberry and licorice
accompanied by smoky and spicy notes. It is supple and rich on the palate with
a meaty texture and lively fruit. 100% Tempranillo.”
Cheers and thank you again. Happy Thanksgiving!
