Happy December!
All of us here at North County Wine Company
wish you a wonderful holiday season, and we are
committed to helping you get the most out of it.
Your Pick-up Party is Wednesday, 12/2. Come on in
and taste all Club wines, any time from 4-9.
Your 4th Quarter STOCK-UP DAYS are Saturday and
Sunday, 11/28-29. You get a nice 10% discount off
our already great prices, so this is a terrific time to stock
up for the holidays!
Our monthly BOTTLE WINNER is Ashton Davis. Ashton,
you get to pick any past or present Silver level wine.
Okay, now for the wines. Silver #1 is the 2012 Numanthia
Termes from Spain, a Tempranillo that garnered a 90 point
score from the Wine Advocate:
“Aromas include dark raspberry, spice, savory, granite
and licorice, with flavors that are fresh, ripe, and
powerful, showing good balance on the palate.”
Silver #2 is the 2012 Chill House Cabernet Sauvignon
from Paso Robles:
Aromas of blackberry jam, ripe currant, and herbs, with
caramel and spicy oak notes. It is soft and round in the
mouth, offering black fruit and hints of smoke, espresso,
cocoa, and baking spice, with smooth tannins on the long finish.
Now let’s go for the Gold! #1 is the 2013 Tenuta San Guido
Guidalberto from Tuscany. This is the “baby brother” of
the world-famous Sassicaia, and it received a 93 point
score from Wine Advocate:
“Beautiful and bold, the 2013 Guidalberto is one of the best
editions of this wine ever made. It shows great energy and
momentum with dark fruit, spice, tobacco and black truffle
that come together with impeccable unity. I love the heft and
power that supports this wine at the back. Its tannic structure
is firm but velvety and will continue to soften as the wine
evolves over the next few years.”
Gold #2 is the 2012 Obsidian Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon from
the Red Hills appellation of Lake County. This received 93
points from Wine Enthusiast:
“*Cellar Selection* Bold aromas, thick layers of fruit flavor, and
a supple but steely texture of fine tannins and acidity add up
to a powerful and complex wine that should improve with age.
Pure, dark-fruit flavors are accented by smoke and cardamom
while the structure is mouth puckering with tannins but softened
by the richness of body and fruit.”
Hope to see you Wednesday, 12/2, for the Pick-Up Party.
And of course we’re here for you all season long, so just
let us know how we can help!
Cheers, and have a great month!!
